SICK has introduced the W12NextGen, a new generation of photoelectric sensors designed to deliver reliable, accurate detection in even the most challenging industrial environments.
Building on the success of the long-established W12 series, the W12NextGen combines SICK’s sensor expertise, advanced processing power, proprietary algorithms to provide enhanced precision, versatility, and repeatability across a wide range of automation applications. The new sensor is the first SICK photoelectric sensor to feature a true digital twin and incorporates industry-leading Hybrid LED technology and Spot Size Recognition (SSR) for improved positioning and detection performance.
The W12NextGen offers dependable detection of difficult objects, including dark, shiny, transparent, or uneven materials, even under high ambient light or harsh environmental conditions. Features such as ClearSens and LineSpot support reliable operation in demanding applications, while a simplified teach-in process and AutoAdapt technology enable fast setup and stable performance as conditions change.
Despite its advanced capabilities, the W12NextGen is easy to select, install, and commission. The BluePilot user interface and SICK SOPAS software via IO-Link support intuitive configuration and access to diagnostic and process data. Housed in a robust metal enclosure, the sensor is designed for long-term reliability in industrial environments.
The W12NextGen range includes diffuse proximity, retro-reflective, and through-beam sensors, as well as multi-mode variants that reduce inventory complexity and increase application flexibility. Typical applications include packaging, material handling, machine building, and automotive manufacturing.
