Here at the BPX Group HQ, we currently have a vacancy for an IT Systems Administrator at our Head Office in Rothley, Leicestershire. We are looking for a bright, determined person to join our friendly team. This is a full-time, permanent position.

IT Systems Administrator Job Role:

The IT Systems Administrator will support the IT Manager and the wider IT team in their role of developing and maintaining the desktops, servers & network systems throughout the organisation. The successful candidate will also work with the wider to team in a collaborative way to extend the skill of the multifunctional team. Limited “out of hours” work may be required from time to time and travel to other locations will be required to provide support and install IT equipment.

Your main duties will include:

  • Install and configure computer hardware, networks, operating systems and applications (desktops and servers).
  • Monitor and maintain computer systems and networks including Voice Over IP (VOIP) telephony and various site WAN connections.
  • Troubleshoot system and network problems and diagnose and solve hardware/software faults.
  • Replace hardware and parts as required.
  • Support the rollout of new computer applications.
  • Provide telephone, e-mail and remote support to all IT users, solving their problems and providing procedural documentation as required.
  • Use remote support tools to manage remote systems and desktops.
  • Maintain the IT Service Desk system, logging all incidents and requests, their acknowledgements and their resolutions and ensuring that all support tickets are handled effectively and expeditiously.
  • Provide basic software training and advice to end-users.
  • Manage backups of all systems ensuring that they run successfully and to manage rotation of backups off-site for safe storage
  • Update systems and servers regularly with approved software updates
  • Monitor system & server logs, following up on any security or performance issues.
  • Develop and maintain the IT documentation and knowledge-base, including good practice and troubleshooting guidance.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with, colleagues, end-users and other professionals (e.g., suppliers and software developers)
  • Test and evaluate new technology.
  • Procure software and parts as instructed by the IT Manager.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • At least 3 years’ experience in the following; Active Directory (AD), Backup, Exchange, Hyper V / VMware, IP, On prem, PowerShell or Windows Server 20xx
  • Ability to successfully manage and deliver multiple concurrent work streams, communicating effectively with other teams where required
  • Experience researching new technologies
  • Ability to complete assigned or self-assigned tasks to time and a high standard without prompting.
  • Knowledge/Experience of working on any of the following would be advantageous; Android, Aruba / Cisco switches, Antivirus & AntiSpam, Certificate Authority, DHCP, DNS, Disaster
  • Recovery, Firewall, iOS, MPLS, NPS, Radius, Routing, VLANs, VPNs or Wi-Fi. • Great problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
