We are proud to announce that Frank Ruiz, Application Support Team member, and Nick Simms, Field Sales Engineer, have successfully completed the Pilz City & Guilds Assured 4 Day Machinery Safety Course. The course, exclusively offered by Pilz UK, provides learners with an invaluable understanding of machinery safety legislation, risk assessments, and practical wiring skills, culminating in the award of a City & Guilds Assured certificate.
The four-day course equips engineers with essential knowledge on safety standards, CE marking, machine guarding, and safety-related control systems, ensuring that we are well-prepared to meet industry requirements and keep operations safe.
Pilz City & Guilds Assured Certification in Machinery Safety Course Highlights:
- Day 1 focused on foundational topics, including the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations, CE Marking requirements, and the structure of harmonised standards. Participants also engaged in tests on each module, reinforcing their understanding.
- Day 2 delved deeper into electrical and control system safety, with an emphasis on EN 60204-1 for machinery electrical equipment and EN ISO 13849-1 for safety-related parts of control systems. The session also covered key principles of machine guarding, along with practical tests.
- Day 3 featured hands-on learning, with practical wiring exercises for E-stop circuits, guard switches, and two-hand control systems, alongside fault monitoring techniques. The day also covered the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER).
- Day 4 concentrated on risk assessments, including concepts from EN ISO 12100. Participants worked on practical risk assessment methods and learned about temporary safety measures for machinery.
The course, specifically designed for electrical and mechanical engineers, engineering managers, and professionals working with machinery, emphasises safety protocols essential in today’s fast-evolving industrial environments.
