Swinging Success: BPX Chairman’s Challenge 2023 Recap

Looking back on the BPX calendar year, August marked the much-anticipated annual showdown of skill, camaraderie, and friendly competition at the BPX Chairman’s Challenge 2023. Golf enthusiasts from BPX past and present gathered at Leicestershire’s Lingdale Golf Club, ready to battle it out for the prestigious Chairman’s Challenge trophy, pride, and, of course, bragging rights.

This year’s event showcased three groups of BPX golfers in a hard-fought affair. In the end, Ed Collins emerged victorious, narrowly edging Lee Clarke for the coveted trophy. The third spot on the podium went to Richard Thompson, who delivered a commendable performance. Being the least experienced golfer, Nick Barker, claimed the dreaded wooden spoon however he did receive a cost-effective tutorial on the day to enhance his skills.

A special mention goes out to Austin Lovelock, who assumed the crucial role of the official photographer, capturing the memorable moments that unfolded on the greens. Additionally, kudos to former champion Alex Coombes for orchestrating the entire event, ensuring its seamless execution.

Described as “a pleasure to watch,” the Chairman’s Challenge not only provided a platform for friendly competition but also contributed to a greater cause. The event successfully raised an impressive £86, which has been be directed towards our Charity Fundraising page for the Electrical Industries Charity.
