SICK AND MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC COOPERATE TO INTEGRATE MACHINE VISION

Machine producers and end-users now recognise the performance benefits of integrating machine vision into their processes. To simplify integration, SICK and Mitsubishi Electric have developed a joint solution for the easy integration of vision technology.

The solution developed is suitable for applications across different industries, including automotive, food and beverage, life sciences, machine-building and OEM design. It also allows machine builders, systems integrators and end-users to quickly employ inspection, validation, position detection and quality control applications.

Integrating machine vision

Using the new software makes it easier for users to embed vision technology into applications such as product manufacturing, handling and packaging. It combines a SICK vision camera with ready-built and tested function blocks for the Mitsubishi Electric GX Works PLC programming environment. This makes it simple to set up vision applications on Mitsubishi Electric PLCs. Users also have the assurance of full support from both Mitsubishi Electric and SICK.

Ease of use

It simplifies the integrating of machine vision for modern industrial vision systems with high-speed processing. The easy to use systems reduce engineering time and makes manufacturing processes more efficient and competitive. Furthermore, the use of function blocks overcomes the need to engineer every application.

Both companies believe that vision solutions provide essential information that enhances a whole range of automation processes. Moreover, they are the eyes of Industry 4.0 and therefore a key element of the digital transformation of industry.

SICK and Mitsubishi Electric have worked together closely in both vision and safety systems for several years. Reflecting their long cooperation in automation areas of vision systems and safety, SICK and Mitsubishi Electric are taking that collaboration to the next level, as SICK joins the e-F@ctory Alliance.

E-F@CTORY ALLIANCE

The e‑F@ctory Alliance is an integral part of the Mitsubishis Electric factory automation umbrella. It is a global network of manufacturers of industrial components and specialised system integrators and software providers. These partner companies collaborate at an individual level to offer flexible, optimised solutions for various customer requirements. It has over 300 members worldwide who in addition to collaborating with Mitsubishi, cooperate with one another.
