EtherCAT is rapidly gaining popularity and is now the third most widely installed industrial network in factory automation worldwide. By the same token, this makes it the preferred choice in many industry sectors. The new gateways connect devices or networks to EtherCAT, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, PROFIBUS, and PROFINET control systems.

Secure and reliable connectivity

Users can quickly and effortlessly scan the EtherCAT network for devices from its web user interface. Communicators automatically identify and map each device to the control system, eliminating the need to find and import device description files. They are reliable, secure, and user-friendly.

Configuring the gateways uses the drag-and-drop functionality of a web-based user interface, and accessible via a gateway’s dedicated Ethernet port. From the interface, users can also monitor network traffic and diagnose issues before they become problems.

Secure and fast communications

Powered by the award-winning Anybus NP40 industrial network processor ensures that the Communicators meet demanding requirements in terms of industrial performance, reliability, and security. New hardware and software mean the gateways enable instant data transfer up to ten times faster than their predecessors. Moreover, users can also exchange more data between the networks with transfer up to 1500 bytes to and from connected PLCs.

To protect users from cyberattacks, the gateways have an onboard physical security switch. This prevents unauthorised configuration changes and secure boot functionality to resist attacks and infections from malware.

Fast installation and intuitive configuration

Installation is easier due to the compact gateway design with forward-facing ports and DIN-rail mounting. This allows installation close to connected devices, reducing the amount of wiring.
