Some questioned our sanity, stating that we must be crazy when we announced that we would be running a UK event in the middle of January, but they soon realised that it could just be a stroke of genius. On the 16th and 17th January, we hosted our inaugural Power Up! 🚀 event at our Rothley, Leicestershire HQ, where thirteen of our established key supplier partners were in attendance to impart wisdom and demonstrate their latest product offerings to our group sales and technical teams.
Attendees from across The BPX Group, alongside those from our back-office departments, included those from the BPX branch network, CDL, LSC and RCS were well represented, meeting and learning all they could from representatives from Schneider Electric, Mitsubishi Electric, Omron, Phoenix Contact, Weidmuller, Wago, Pilz, Marechal, Cembre, Craig & Derricott, Rittal, SMC and SICK.

Examples of offers that were demonstrated across the two-day event were Schneider’s Tesys Island motor starter and configurator; Mitsubishi’s MELFA robot and new GOT HMI camera capture function; Omron’s latest range of panel products including the new MY series relay; and Weidmuller’s range of VARITECTOR Surge protection products.
In addition to the above, other popular areas were Wago’s Energy Data Management solution demo, not to mention their very fun and interactive Lose the Screws game! Also, prevalent exhibits were Marechal demonstrating their EVO switch disconnector, Rittal’s RiPanel configurator and SMC’s AMS Air Management System, comprising of compressed air being fed in from our trusty neighbours at Leicester Switch and Controls.
Lastly it would be wrong to not mention Phoenix Contact’s display on PLCnext along with their brand new ‘Efficiency on Tour’ Van, making its maiden voyage, demonstrating their range of THERMOMARK printing solutions and crimping tools.
Along with our sales and technical teams to be up-skilled on the aforementioned areas, the event provided a great networking opportunity for new starters to be introduced to key manufacturer stakeholders, offering them the opportunity to discuss customer training plans and to realise the potential interchangeability of products amongst brands that were exhibiting on the day.

From our perspective it was great to see so many of our well-respected partners under one roof, with the aim of ensuring your local BPX representative is up to date on the latest applications and solutions, and essentially, ready to support your automation and control needs in 2024.
A stroke of genius after all!
